The Leicestershire and Rutland Dragonfly Group, an informal, non-subscription group of local enthusiasts, was founded in July 2002. Our main aims are to record the dragonflies and damselflies of Leicestershire and Rutland (vc55), provide information to conservationists and wildlife organisations, and to share our knowledge so that everyone can enjoy these fascinating insects.

We have put together an Introduction to Dragonflies and Damselflies which is a good place to learn the basics, with tips, anatomy diagrams and a glossary of terms to help you along.

Feel free to browse through the species accounts for dragonflies and damselflies, read some articles and browse the forum and blog - you'll be identifying teneral damselflies in no time!
