SMALL RED-EYED DAMSELFLIES, Priory Water, 23rd July 2006

From Steve Houghton...

A detailed survey of the fishing lake to determine the numbers of Small Red-eyed Damselfly present produced the following results.

35 - mature males
4 - mature females
4 - coupled pairs, 3 of which were ovipositing

As the species was present around the whole of the lake shoreline it seems likely that the huge rafts of floating vegetation in the centre of the lake will also be populated.
Looks like we have had a very welcome invasion!

Observers: Steve Houghton, Mark Rossell, Dave Gamble, Tim Goodlife, Graham Gamble.
