Priory Water 05/08/06

Another survey of the Small Red-Eyed Damselfly population on the reserve produced quite a surprise in terms of numbers present, 180+ males, 70 females, 63 coupled pairs most of which were ovipositing. These numbers may indicate that they are still on the move within the county and more insects are still arriving!

Other species recorded were;
Brown Hawker - 250+
Southern Hawker - 3
Migrant Hawker - 2
Common Darter - 150+
Ruddy Darter - 100+
Emperor - 7
Black-Tailed Skimmer - 50+
Four-Spotted Chaser - 5

Common Blue Damselfly
Blue-Tailed Damselfly
