Latest Leics & Rutland Dragonfly Sightings

Below is a list of species for each 10-km square, produced using records held within the Dragonfly Recording Network's national database, on 8th May 2007.

This list gives a summary of records present for each 10-km square, indicating those that should be targeted for an up-dated national atlas. Species highlighted in bold have been recorded since 2000, whereas species not highlighted represent records in the DRN database only present prior to 2000.

The species can be viewed in both scientific and common names (in the Word file supplied to me - if you would like a copy please click here). To switch between the two click the button at the top of the page. In order for this to work, macros must be allowed in this document. If not then go to "Tools - Macros - Security" selecting "medium level". Then close and reopen this document, clicking enable macros. If this does not work then check the button is not in design view, shown by the appearance of white circles around the button on clicking it. If it is then go to "View-Toolbars - Control Toolbox" - and click on "Protractor, Ruler and Pencil" icon (Exit Design Mode).

Can you help by recording those species not highlighted or add species to 10-km squares near you? Please record your sightings, at least at a 6 figure grid reference, and send these records to your local dragonfly recorder (contact details available from the Recording Page of the British Dragonfly Society's website (http://www.dragonflysoc.org.uk/)). We would also be grateful for any records, even if the species have been highlighted as recorded since 2000.

To find a 10-km square on the map go to the National Biodiversity Network's (NBN) Gateway (http://www.searchnbn.net/) where you can find the square using the map under Geosearching.
