Priory Water 2nd May 2007

A walk round the reserve late this afternoon proved very productive, the highlight being the discovery of 5 Variable Damselflies, 2 mature males and most importantly 3 teneral males proving that this Damselfly is now an established breeding species on the reserve.

There is lots of Damselfly activity now with Red-Eyed Damselfly now begining to emerge in large numbers.
No Dragonflies as yet, but it can only be a matter of days or even less until they begin to emerge.

We now have 5 species of Damselfly on the wing on the reserve.
Large Red
Azure
Blue-Tailed
Red-Eyed
Variable
